Inferno Metal Festival, March 28-31, Oslo

Inferno Metal Festival Review

Inferno festival has always been on my bucket list. I have heard amazing stories from my friends. Being a summer festival goer, making arrangements for the end of March and in Norway was really out my comfort zone. Anyway, I purchased my ticket and booked my room at hotel Clarion. There is a reason why I mentioned the name of this specific Hotel as it plays an important role in the overall experience.

The Inferno Metal Festival in Oslo, Norway, is a must-attend event for black metal enthusiasts. Set in the heart of the city, this indoor festival boasts two stages where the sound quality is nothing short of spectacular. The crisp, powerful acoustics elevate the performances, making each show a visceral experience.

Oslo itself is a beautiful backdrop for this dark, intense gathering. The festival is conveniently partnered with Hotel Clarion, where all the bands and performers stay. The thrill of sharing a hotel with these artists, whether literaly bumping into them in the lobby or at the breakfast buffet, adds an unforgettable personal touch to the festival experience. The hotel is also just a short walk from the express airport shuttle, making it easy to get there.

What sets Inferno apart is its concentrated focus on black metal but enriched with other genres of metal music. The lineup is carefully curated, offering a unique and exquisite selection of bands that appeal directly to the each genre’s most devoted fans. However, it’s worth noting that food and drinks at the festival are pricier than at your average festival, so budget accordingly.

One downside to attending during Easter is that many shops in Oslo close for the holiday, which might limit your sightseeing and shopping options. However, the festival offers a fantastic alternative: the Black Metal Bus excursion. This tour takes you to important and epic locations in black metal history, providing a deeper connection to the genre’s roots. It’s a highly recommended addition to the festival experience.

In summary, the Inferno Metal Festival is an exceptional event for mainly black metal fans, offering an intense musical lineup, excellent accommodations, and a unique cultural excursion. Just be prepared for higher prices on food and drinks and limited city shopping during the Easter period.
